Meet Barbara

Barbara Johnson has lived in Albuquerque for almost 50 years and practiced law for 34 of those years. She graduated from UNM Law school in 1988 and began serving the citizens of New Mexico shortly after.

As the past president of the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association, she has been a strong presence in the female attorney community in New Mexico for the past 30 years.

A practicing family law attorney, and Past Chair of the Family Law Section of the state bar, Barbara has a deep understanding of the issues New Mexicans face every day such as divorce, custody battles, property and real estate disputes, business issues, crime, and domestic violence. This invaluable experience makes her an ideal candidate for the New Mexico Court of Appeals.

Barbara is a strong proponent of keeping politics out of the courtroom. She believes political interference prevents judges from doing their job to the best of their abilities and, should she be elected to the New Mexico Court of Appeals, she will work hard to ensure that no decisions are made based on the will of a political party or politician.

Barbara has the expertise, real-world experience, and strong work ethic to be an effective Judge on the Court of Appeals and is honored to give New Mexicans a choice.
